Beginners Class
Eligibility
Handlers or dogs that has qualified in this Class twice at Championship Shows, scoring at least 95% on each occasion, are not eligible to compete in any Beginners Class again. Handlers or dogs that have qualified in Novice Class or any higher Class are not eligible to compete in any Beginners Class.
Exercise Max. Marks
1 Heel on lead……………………………………………………….30
Heelwork is done on the lead only. It is to include no more than
three right, left and about turns and up to four halts all at normal
pace. Talking to the dog by the handler, snapping of the fingers
slapping of the sides and stamping of the feet are allowed.
2 Recall………………………………………………………………10
Sit-stay and handler moves to a position directly in front and
facing the dog before ordered to recall the dog. Dog must come
and sit in front of handler and then told to heel.
3 Retrieve handler’s article…………………………………………..30
An own article is thrown to the required distance. Upon command
the dog is sent to retrieve the article and sit in front of handler,
give the article when told so and heel when commanded.
4 Sit Stay – one minute – handler in sight facing dog……………….10
Handlers must not talk, signal or touch dog when returning to
the dog before exercise is ended.
5 Down Stay – two minutes – handler in sight facing dog…………..20

Marks needed to qualify………………………………………..95 – 100
No physical disciplining of dog in or outside the ring.
No food to be offered to the dog in the ring.
No food to be carried by the handler in the ring.
No pinch collars.
No talking or signals during stay exercises.
No practice or training in the ring.
Handlers will be penalised for touching their dogs and for moving their
feet once they have assumed a position required by an exercise.
